The rain has stopped and it's time to start making hay. Anyone who is able is now cutting their hay paddocks and hoping it won't rain again until the hay is baled. Unfortunately, there is rain forecast in the next week or 10 days but our forecasts are not accurate enough at present to be relied upon - despite what the Bureau of Meteorology says - so cutting is going ahead anyway.
This photo show one of our organic hay paddocks being mown with the grass on the channel bank in the foreground showing the considerable growth this year.
Here's Leigh doing a wonderful job of mowing the orchard. At the front of the tractor, you'll notice a wheel and blade that Brian constructed to allow mowing to be done around the trunk of each tree. This year it has been a very slow process. BUT the result is worth it.
